Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen has strongly condemned at attack on US Consulate in Benghazi that killed four Americans, including Libyan ambassador, and expressed deep condolences to the American people.

Talking about the prospects for global peace, Ishak Alaton underlined the contributions of the Gülen movement, a faith-based social movement named after Turkish Islamic scholar Fethullah Gülen. "Gülen has devoted himself to improving modern education. Another aspect of him is the importance he attaches to interfaith and intercultural dialogue. I have never believed he has an agenda other than this. Rather, I believe the schools opened worldwide by those inspired by his teachings are contributing to global peace today. Students there are receiving a liberal, high-quality education. These schools are our ambassadors of culture, communicating the message of peace," he said, lauding such initiatives.

In Africa Turkish schools enjoy especially high popularity. Turkish schools provide such a superior education and have earned such a big trust that many African top officials prefer to send their children to these schools. Foreign Trade Minister of Turkey Zafer Caglayan shares that during his visit to African countries “every minister he met asked for more schools” to be established in the region.

“I meet with my colleagues in every African country I visit. The common wish they all have is for more [Turkish-run] schools to be opened. I care very much about these schools. I visit them every time,” Çağlayan, who is on an official visit to Nigeria, Ghana and Equatorial Guinea, said during his visit to a Turkish college in the Nigerian capital city of Abuja.
